MetLife Stadium Ranked Least Convenient 2026 World Cup Venue for Fans

As preparations continue for the expanded 48-team FIFA World Cup in 2026 across the USA, Canada, and Mexico, a recent study has cast a critical eye on fan accessibility for one of its most prominent venues. MetLife Stadium, officially designated as "New York New Jersey Stadium" for the tournament and slated to host eight matches, including the highly anticipated final on July 19, 2026, has reportedly been ranked the least convenient among the 16 host cities for supporters.

The research, conducted by travel company Holafly, points to significant challenges regarding transportation for attendees. According to the study, fans traveling to the Meadowlands facility will primarily rely on two main options: a dedicated FIFA World Cup bus network or NJ Transit rail services. The bus service is expected to operate from three designated pickup points, while those opting for NJ Transit will need to connect through Secaucus Junction before boarding a shuttle train directly to the stadium.

Beyond the perceived limitations in choice, the report also highlights a substantial cost disparity. Traveling to and from MetLife Stadium is reportedly considerably more expensive compared to other host cities. The study indicates an average roundtrip transportation cost of approximately $12.90 for the New York New Jersey venue. This figure is more than triple the estimated average of $4.02 for transportation across the other 2026 FIFA World Cup host cities, raising concerns about the overall fan experience and affordability for those attending matches at this key location.
